Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou this Saturday
Barça revealed they will play at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host the Basque side in domestic competition 30 months after they moved out so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium earlier this month. The club said they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt next month in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
